First and foremost, it is a requirement that before playing the game, there should be a word resource like a dictionary or word list that all players have to agree to be used in case there is a situation that needs intervening during the game. To begin with, the players first have to put the tiles or playing letters in an opaque bag.
Next, the players have to come up with a way that they will take turns to play in so that they each player gets the chance to play equally. To decide how the players will take turns, each player has to take one tile from the bag without looking. After all players have had a chance to take out a tile each, they can then place all the letters in the open and the player that gets the letter that is closest to A, the first alphabet, will be the first to play. The next closest will be the second and so forth. The player names can then be listed on a paper in order for purposes of listing the score.
After knowing the order of the game, the players have to return the tiles in the bag. Then, the players can now each get a rack where they will place the tiles in a manner that will not allow the competitors to see the tiles. The bag can be shaken to shuffle the tiles together in order to increase randomness when picking tiles. Then, the first player in turn picks seven letters randomly from the bag without looking and arranges them on the rack. The next player in line then picks letters from the bag and so on.
